Garden Know Hows - Gardenia Cuttings

November 25, 2016

SO EASY!!!!! The perfume of Sydney at Christmas!!!

I have successfully taken cuttings before and some are in the garden and the one below is waiting for the our new very tiny garden in a new house we are building. The perfume at the moment as they start to flower reminded me I should take more cuttings - why? I just love them.

Cuttings were taken of soft wood (i.e. green wood) about 6 inches long and all but the top leaves removed. Potting soil is equal parts sand, peat and potting soil. Made holes with a biro, dipped cutting in rooting hormone, dampened and sitting back for some weeks. Stay tuned.
